Default Prices rising from traders?

I've noticed that the NPC traders prices have been rising. Black dye costs 1.5k more than it did a month ago, and according to my guild leader (who had been saving up to buy a hall) the price raised from about 9k to 20k for the sigls within about that time as well.

I understand that it's based on supply and demand, but do you think this increase will continue at it's current rate? As a casual player, I don't want to have to spend a week's worth of playing to afford even the cheapest dyes (I know I'm exaggerating, but still...)

I see black dyes change price all the time, usually between 1-2k.
Don't pay attention to sigils though.

But yeah it varies all the time.

[ rant ]

option A: ArenaNet is fixing the prices manually, which they never did and is not logical they'd do right now (they're too busy with GW2/origami contests)
option B: Extremely high demand on materials/merch stuff (there isnt a reason as far as i know)
option C: Bad Servers

The most reasonable guess would be that the pre-wintersday farming frenzy is over. As such, the overall supply has lessened, while demand remained constant.

If you think back, as the end of year approaches, there's lots of events. There was also GW:EN and BMP, all of which led to everyone and their pet doing a lot of farming. Among that was also a lot of items that go straight to merchant.

Now, the major events are over and it'll be a while. There are no promised updates, so there is no goal to work towards. General items are such in shorter supply, as only few go back to farm small number of special items.

When I had 200 rubies [before NF u.u] I sold about fifty when the trader started buying for 100g less.

I've been seeing that too. Maybe it's just my bad luck, but I'm thinking the GW:EN dungeon chest drops have been nerfed a bit lately. The first time I went through my master dungeon guide, I'll bet I got an onyx from a third of them, and a green drop from three. The second time I went through the guide, I got one onyx and no greens. The rest were all high req golds I ended up selling to the merchant. With onyx dropping less, and people wanting to fill their HoM with destroyer weapons, the trader's sell price is likely going to keep rising.

That would really, really suck.

I've noticed a change in Onyxs, but besides that I haven't really paid attention. I don't think its really anything to worry about.

Onyx prices is logical. Everyone is working on maxing out destroyer weapons for hall of monuments. Atleast I assume that is why the prices are going up.

Sounds like it, since it's the only use so far. Now that the prices had "dropped", the demand is back up high... price is going up too.
